Currently, at least one in five Europeans is exposed to sound levels which are considered dangerous to their health according to World Health Organization.

While air pollution is a growing public health problem, so is noise pollution across Europe, and many people may be unaware of its impacts on their health.

Noise is unavoidable at home, offices, classrooms and other indoor environments. Many day-to-day situations cause more noise than normal in our homes which results in significant chronic sleep disorders. A lot of people do not realize that noise pollution is a serious problem that affects health. Of course, premature deaths related to air pollution far outnumber those associated with noise pollution.

In general, there are two types of noise pollution: indoor pollution with the noise of equipment (such as ventilation or electronic office equipment) or that of people talking; and external noise (construction work, road traffic or planes, etc.).

In the long term, heavy noise pollution can contribute to the development of hypertension or coronary heart disease. Work performance drops by exposure to annoying noise. Noise pollution also causes headaches, stress and sleep disturbances. Additionally, a big number of employees say they don’t have a quiet enough space to focus on their work, which affects their productivity.

This measure helps us to determine if the noise is disturbing the environment. To have a healthy lifestyle we can learn to measure and control it. But how to measure it? If the intensity of the noise is too loud, it can harm the hearing and the ear.

Measuring the sound level in decibel (dB) at home is simple. Use a sound measuring device to get data on the surrounding noise, such as a HibouAir – air quality monitor with CO2 and noise.

Based on the sound intensity, you will then find out what your sound level is in decibels (dB). This measurement will then allow you to take action to bring the sound level to its ideal level.

The HibouAir is an air quality monitoring device that is compact, lightweight and easy to implement; its function is to measure and monitor the indoor air quality data such as CO2, VOC, temperature, pressure, humidity, and noise in the environment.

HibouAir is a Bluetooth Low Energy monitoring device which makes it easy to integrate environmental data collected by HibouAir into an existing system.

“Introduction of noise sensor to air quality monitoring device will help to develop combined strategies to reduce noise and air pollution while optimizing costs and efforts.” – said Axel Hammar Founder & CEO of Smart Sensor Devices.

HibouAir SSD002/2BN is available at an affordable cost.
